Carey's Luxurious Baby's Room Slated To Contain Diamond Encrusted IPods

Sure, most moms and dads want to spoil their kids. Carey is going overboard, even for the famous and rich. The price of the baby's room has not been made public, but the bill is well into the millions already.

Carey and the huge luxurious baby's room

Carey and her husband Cannon are expecting baby twins in March. The couple is very excited after trying for years to get pregnant. In preparation, the couple has turned an entire wing of their Beverly Hills mansion into a giant luxury baby's room. An old Michael Jackson sofa costing $1 million, $2,200 cribs, diamond encrusted iPods and 18 carat gold trim on the walls are just some examples of what is in the baby's room. It seems more like a dream.

Nursery price paid for the babies

There is an easily increasing price for Carey and Nick Cannon’s nursery. It can only go up. One source reported the cost at $1.3 million, however that estimate is most likely low. Because Carey and Cannon are spending $1 million on the crushed velvet sofa alone, the cost is likely closer to $2 million or $3 million. There can be 42 inch flat screen TVs and $3,000 rocking chairs in the huge luxury nursery. Carey is also employing the services of a designer to help decorate the wing of the house.

Child raising expenditures

The price put on raising kids goes up each year, even though Mariah Carey is definitely spending more than necessary on the nursery. The United States DOA creates an "Expenditures on Children" report each year. A middle-income family average cost of raising a child is $222,360. That was what the 2010 report said. Low income families expect to spend less though. About $10,000 a year on kids is spent. Mariah Cary spent $222,360 or more on just the gold carat trim in the room for the twins.
