The United States Air Force Museum Air Force Museum Is A Must See Visit
The United States Air Force Museum Air Force museum is the world's biggest military museum of aviation as well as the national museum of the U. S. Air Force. It is the ongoing mission of the U. S. Air Force to present its history as well as its evolving capabilities.
The Air Force museum is an internationally known attraction that explains the story of flight.
Featuring over 300 aircraft and as well as assorted aerospace vehicles, the huge museum greets 1. 2 million visitors every year to view its 17 acres of indoor presentations of air and space.
The museum features galleries that connect today's Space Age all the way back to the Wright brothers era.
The museum utilizes sensory exhibits, educational programs and special events to tell the Air Force story.
While highlighting virtues such as courage, innovation, and duty, the Air Force honors its men and women.
The Air force museum is in Dayton, Ohio, the town where the Wright brothers resided and also invented their airplane.
Four gigantic hangar buildings at Dayton's Wright-Patterson Air Force Base house the collection of displays. The museum is a must see, whenever you get to Dayton.
You will have a great time even if you have only a passing interest in aircraft, the military or NASA. A visitor more strongly occupied with aviation can find it easy to spend a couple of days at the museum.
And you cannot beat the price of admission, because it is always free.
From every era in aviation history, starting with the first bi-planes, there are all classifications of airplanes displayed.
Both chronological and subjective layouts are used at the museum to tell the exciting story of aviation development over the years.
Exhibits include various aircraft and missiles like the Stealth fighter, the X-15 (history's highest and the fastest flying aircraft), and the Super SR-71 spy-plane.
The museum also has personal Air Force artifacts including memorabilia like uniforms and photographs among the thousands of items on display.
An exhibit devoted to Prisoner of War history is one of the most popular at the museum.
Homemade items crafted by WWII prisoners in prison camps, ranging from fitness exercise equipment to mousetraps, are displayed in this exhibit.
You might also find in corners of the museum, Air Force issued cooking utensils, bugles and Harley-Davidson motorcycles.
Had the Air Force ever had used an Ibanez acoustic electric guitar or a 5 piece drum set, you would definitely see them here.
A marvelously interesting place to visit, this fantastic museum is and a fabulous adventure for the whole family.
Should art be paid for by those who appreciate it?
I dont know how common this is in other places but where I live we have a couple of huge museums / art galleries which are free at the point of entry, but obviously funded from the government or the lottery.
I've been a couple of times and seen rubbish like tampons hanging from a wall (but thats a matter of taste I guess) my point is art is definately somewhat of an elitist thing and even though it being free might encourage a broader section of society to go, the money is desperatley needed in other areas and people who want to view these things should pay the premium!
You're rambling. What is the point you're trying to make? It sounds interesting, but I can't understand what you're talking about!
