According to the nature magazine there are similarities in the structure of a thujone molecule and THC so they acted in a similar manner.
Everybody is now familiar with the inaccuracy of these proves. The higher dose of thujone can become active on the GABA receptors of the brain but thujone is different from THC. After testing Absinthes it has been proved that the quantity of thujone in it is very small to be harmful. Before being affected by thujone one will die due to alcohol poisoning when taking Absinthe in large amount!
Being a highly alcoholic drink Absinthe will get an individual drunk quite quickly so should be taken in moderation.
