A Dream Was Coming True Today
She strolled through the largest furniture store in town. She felt as if she'd find what she wanted today. This was a long-time dream of hers, to drift off to sleep each night in one of the fanciest, most elaborately carved sleigh beds in existence. Oh she knew she was a little fixated and didn't mind admitting it. She specifically wanted cherry wood even though her other bedroom furniture was oak. It would complement the oak wood she thought.
She looked over the twin-beds without much interest. French provincial, traditional and some ultra-modern ones caught her eye. She really didn't like most of them. They seemed appropriate for a child's bedroom. Maybe when she had a child, she'd be more interested in these.
The second group looked like either full-size or twin. She asked the sales person and she said the queen-sized ones were readily available as were the king-size beds. The full-size beds were not readily available in every bed on display. It depended on the style she chose. She continued to browse.
A few years ago she had seen a movie in which the couple had a gorgeous, huge and fancy bed that was placed, oddly, in the middle of their bedroom. The wife was a ballet dancer and she would dance around the bed each morning and each night. It was a ritual that had special meaning in the movie plot. She wanted one like it ever since.
Now they moved on to the king-sized beds. The saleslady talked about how gorgeous sheets were available in king-sizes. She pointed out all the advantages. No need, the customer was already sold on that size. She hadn't been interested in a twin sleigh bed and she passed up the full and queen-sized ones, she wanted one of these overly large ones.
Then she spotted it. It was a magnificent, huge, elaborately carved and perfectly finished king-size bed. She stopped in her tracks and told the saleslady that this was the one. She could see it now, in her bedroom at home. She could visualize it with a lovely quilt and pillow shams on it.
She could already visualize it sitting in her bedroom. She and her husband could stretch out and be really comfortable. They could watch TV, use their laptops or read together. She told the salesman she wanted this one. He wrote up the order and she could barely wait for the deliver date to arrive. She had, after much searching, found the sleigh bed of her dreams.
